The Story: Meanwhile, located at the foothills of the Madeleine Mountains, the 200 hectares of the Côte Roannaise AOP are amongst the original vineyards of the Loire Valley, in the naval of France. The best producer in this unique, small appellation is Domaine Sérol, led by Stephane Sérol and his wife Carine. They produce a range of distinctive wines marked by elegance, freshness, and, of course, granitic minerality. Infact, demonstrating their cult status Domaine Sérol famously produces a cuvée exclusively for the neighboring Michelin three-star restaurant ‘Troisgros’. The Sérol property dates back to the 17th century and was passed from generation to generation. When Stéphane and Carine took over in 1998, the domain totaled 12 hectares, but have upped to farming 28 hectares and have converted the domaine to fully certified organic and biodynamic viticulture. Harvest is carried out by hand, and extreme rigor in the cellar allows the winemaking process to remain as natural as possible.
Turbullent Sparkling Rosé is a gorgeous and delicious Pet-Nat made in the Méthode Ancestrale. The fruit is pressed directly, followed by an ambient yeast fermentation started in concrete tank at low temperature and continued in bottles, at 11% ABV the wine is filtered and re-bottled with a small dosage of SO2 for stability. Bulle means bubble, so pop the cap off with your own big bang and imagine you’re pouring the creation of the universe into your glass to enjoy.
Personality: This rosé sparkler at 11% ABV shows no evident sweetness. It's playful and delicate, perfect on its own or as an aperitif. This vintage is extra bright, with notes of crunchy cranberry and raspberry that come to the forefront, underscored by allspice, citrus zest, and pomegranate, leading to a lifted, fresh finish
Harmony: One of our faves for brunch, lunch, pre-dinner, or in place of dessert - why not? It’s at home next to just about anything. Fried food, curries, white pizza with ricotta and mushrooms, stuffed mushrooms, and sausage rolls
