Barbaresco is one of the most prized wines of Italy, and here we bring it to you at an incredible value from Ca’ Del Baio! Autinbej, known for its accessibility and aromatic charm, evokes a bygone era when such wines were the union of Nebbiolo grapes from the best, sunniest parts of different parcels. Autinbej is a tribute to Giulio Grasso’s late father, Ernesto, who often used the Piemontese word to describe the best vineyard exposures. Today, Giulio’s daughters Paola, Valentina and Federica, handle all the various areas of the business at the estate with passion and expertise, from the growing and vinification of the grapes, to hospitality and wine sales. Practicing organic.

Story: For four generations Ca’ del Baio has been a family affair, as is the tradition in the Langhe. Nurtured and passed down from father to son, the vineyards surrounding the Grasso family farmhouse have been added to over time through marriage and acquisitions. These days it’s Giolio Grasso’s three daughters taking the reins. For the Grasso family, simplicity, a sense of sacrifice and the deep attachment they have to their land are pre-requisites for guaranteeing wines of quality. Today the Ca’ del Baio estate takes in 31 hectares of vineyards in the villages of Barbaresco, Treiso and Trezzo Tinella: the first two municipalities are part of Barbaresco winegrowing area, the last one is part of the popular Alta Langa region, which is now famous for white wines, cereals and hazelnuts. All estate-grown, their wines are made from a range of highly valued varieties, some typical of the area while others are more international: the whites include Moscato, Chardonnay and Riesling, and the reds Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. Today, their viticultural practices include:  Eco-friendly and sustainable viticulture and production, preservation of biodiversity and the natural environment, respect for the soil through agronomic solutions, and the elimination of chemical weeding in the vineyards. Bravissimo!

Personality: Brilliant ruby red with garnet highlights, nose is delicate and floral, with aromas of red cherry, rose petal, violet and fresh earth. Medium-bodied and elegant, the palate offers flavors of ripe cherry, raspberry, and red currant, balanced by savory notes of tea leaves, leather, and a touch of anise.

Harmony: Ideal with traditional Italian dishes such as risotto with truffle, pasta with ragu, or roasted meats and eggplants.
