Merlot, 2021

Who says Bordeaux wines have to be pretentious and stuffy. How about fresh and delightful? Named in honor of this brother/sister duo’s children, Les Cousines comes from Famille Huber, farming biodynamically since 2000. Merlot is popular for good reason. It has one of the most impressive and distinctive textures of any wine, and has long been prized for the "softening" effect it can have on Cabernet - especially in the noble and famed Bordeaux blends. That said, it’s almost never produced as a single varietal wine in this haute region. Give this 100% Merlot a chance, won’t you?

The Story: Château Peybonhomme-Les-Tours is a pioneering natural Bordeaux estate run by the Hubert family in the village of Cars near Blaye since 1895. Now in its sixth generation, it has been organic and biodynamic since 2000 with a strong focus on maintaining a healthy, vibrant ecosystem that encompasses flora, fauna and animal life.

Personality: A bright and delicious fruitiness, dominated by aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, cherry and liquorice, maybe some crunchy tannins on the finish.

Harmony: Run a bath and pour yourself a glass. You deserve a little self care for whatever stress you might be having these days. Perfect with homemade burgers as well.
