RAM Cellars Cabernet Franc

$32.00

Columbia Valley > Washington

Cabernet Franc, 2023

One of our proudest accomplishments was introducing to Seattle - RAM Cellars, wines made with love by Viv Kennedy out of PDX sourcing fruit from OR and WA to make some very fun and friendly juice. Who doesn’t love a good Cab Franc with fig jam, huckleberry, cedar and a distinctive green pepper pop? Put a blue cheese-stuffed burger on the grill, and this juice slaps. From Weets Family Vineyard, Viv picked up the grapes in the early morning. Back at the winery in SE PDX, the harvest crew got to work on the grapes, sorting them by hand and then performing a gentle foot crush on the 1.5 tons of grapes. After a 20 day fermentation, the wine was moved to neutral barrel and stainless steel, blended after 11 months aging, unfined/unfiltered with minimal SO2 added.

Vivianne is the only Trans producer we know of, and we’re so excited to support her entry into the Seattle market by bringing you some of her wines. A portion of the sales will be donated to Trans Lifeline, a grassroots hotline and microgrants non-profit offering direct emotional and financial support to trans people in crisis – for the trans community, by the trans community.

ABV: 13.5%

The Story: The launch of RAM Cellars was the culmination of years of studies and work by winemaker Vivianne Kennedy, Maven of Mirth & Darling of Delight, who came out as Trans in 2018. An interest in wine turned into a love of wine, which turned into an intense curiosity about everything that goes into the production of premium wines. With great pleasure and honor, she brings bring hand crafted wines to you and yours. She makes small batch lots of wines that are reflective of both the season they were grown and the varietal characteristics of the grapes they contain. RAM is focused on native yeast ferments on all wines, zero fining or filtration, minimal sulfite levels, and meticulous treatment of our wines throughout their lifecycle in the cellar. She works with a small team of women and queerdos out of Hip Chicks do Wine in SE Portland, and recently opened a tasting room and all women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ producers called Community Wine Bar. How cool is that?

Personality: Huckleberry, vine-dried blackberry, green bell pepper, rosemary and hints of violets greet the nose while black cherry, red plum, fig jam, cedar, slate stone, and a kiss of roasted red peppers await in glass.

Harmony: Pairs well with lamb, pepperoni pizza, hamburgers, blue cheese, grilled asparagus, sauteed portobello mushrooms and good times with the ones you love! Enjoy while vigorously defending trans-rights.
