Grape: 95% Gamay and 5% Poulsard

ABV: 8.5%

The Story: The Boccard family have been farming grape vines on the incredibly steep slopes of Poncieux in Bugey since 1630, though it wasn't until the 1950's when Daniel's father began making traditional sparkling wine with Gamay. In 2000, Daniel took over the estate full time, and in 2016 his daughter, Laura, joined the wine-making team. All grapes are hand harvested and the vineyards are farmed using organic and some biodynamic guidelines, working without fertilizers or chemicals. The Boccards make a wine that is as natural as could be - all fermentation for this blend of 95% Gamay and 5% Poulsard is spontaneous, no added sugars or yeasts, and is accomplished partially in tank at the beginning, but then slowly completed in bottle over the winter and spring following the harvest. The finished wine essentially defines what Bugey Cerdon should be--delicate bubbles that capture a slightly sweet, frothy, strawberry cream soda of a pink sparkling wine.

Personality: Bright neon pink.. Bubbles of fine-grained form small but persistent chains. Explosions of juicy fruit hit the palette and pleasure emerges from the brain lobes. This wine is semi-sweet, but embrace it! You won’t regret it.

Harmony: Sea urchin, holiday cookies, sweets of all kinds, also a fabulous brunch wine
