Trousseau, Gamay, Pinot Noir 2022

The flagship blend of Limited Addition’s Bree Stock, equal parts Trousseau, Gamay and Pinot Noir presents as an homage to Willamette’s “red blend” category, or perhaps reminiscent of an alpine wine from the Jura, perhaps? The Story: Limited Addition wines was born out of the conviction that Oregon’s Willamette Valley was an exceptional winegrowing region capable of growing many high-quality global grape varieties not yet planted, or even imagined there... yet.
Their focus is on varieties that would suit the regions changing climate and be capable of making naturally farmed, naturally made wines, expanding the growing season, varietal diversity and build the regions resilience to climate change.

The initial pressed fermentations come together in stainless tank and are then barreled down to neutral French oak for malolactic fermentation in barrel and aging on lees until the summer comes. This wine is bottled in July and makes a versatile style that can be lightly chilled for summer sojourns and builds complexity in bottle as the fall weather enters. Making this a natural representation and best example of a regional wine of terroir from varieties that have long grown together in their ancestral home and are now grown together in this cool pacific maritime environment of the Willamette Valley.

Personality: Expertly blending Gamay noir (which in the Willamette gives vibrant low pH/high acid wines of ample acidity and deep color) with classic aromatic Pinot Noir, and Trousseau that brings lifted fruit and earth tones of beets and rhubarb without weight to the palate.

Harmony: Beef tartare, capers, quail egg, cornichons, dijon & crostini - charcuterie anyone?
