The Story: Melaney Schmidt and Malia Myers fell in love with winemaking while interning at Illahe Vineyards- so much so that they relocated from Los Angeles up to Oregon’s Willamette Valley/Portland area. They have since relocated to a facility in Cascade Locks right along the mighty Columbia River. The two of them are navigating the queer community in the Pacific Northwest, as well as the wild and weird winemaking enclave along the west coast. They have been involved in numerous collaborations with winemakers in a few different states and even apiarists to use honey in a sparkling wine. Melaney and Malia make intriguing wines with some unexpected blends, and specialize in sparkling wines, producing bubbles four different methods! Above and beyond, they are seeking to showcase the amazing viticulture of the Gorge, their passion and love for craft, as well as each other shining through.
Personality: This Pet-Nat is like that super thoughtful, friend who brightens your day with a surprise visit and makes sure you're doing okay! It's all about spontaneous joy and genuine connection. A youthful sparkler with zippy acids and notes of lemon peel, anise and tart green apples.
Harmony: It's perfect with a spontaneous brunch, fresh fruit salad, or even just some gourmet popcorn for a cozy night in, matching its notes of tart green apple, pineapple, and marshmallow.
