Story: Troon Vineyard has over 50 years of history in Southern Oregon; the original vines were planted on an old cattle ranch in 1972 by Dick and Virginia Troon, who sold the grapes to local wineries those first few years.  Later, Dick converted his barn to a winery where many stories and legends have been told about Dick’s  eccentricities and charisma which worked favorably for a displaced Scotsman. He planted, experimented, cursed, re-planted and eventually came to a conclusion that the grapes grown on Troon Vineyard were the best in the world.  Dick Troon loved the beautiful Applegate Valley, the people and his winery.  He often said Troon Vineyard was the center of the universe and to him it was. Eventually, the farm was converted to biodynamics, which is a system of agriculture all about bringing the microbiome to a healthy balance so that a grapevine can return to its natural process of extracting what it needs from the soil. This makes for a healthier, stronger vine and that means more flavorful fruit and wine. The easiest way to describe biodynamics is that it is organic, chemical-free agriculture combined with an intensive discipline of probiotic treatments - the biodynamic preparations which include tea tinctures, and yes - horn manure compost. Today, the Troon estate has different owners that honor the site’s prestige and history with Nate Wall as chief winemaker since 2018, along with assistant winemaker Micah Wagner who recently joined the team. In 2021, Troon became the first vineyard to receive an Organic Regenerative Certification.

Personality: Druid's Pink is the vineyard's fun, chatty friend, a juicy blend with a playful mix of fruit, spice, and sublime minerality. The mourvèdre adds body and fruit complemented by intriguing herbal characteristics. Grenache adds some weight and texture along with ample fruit. Cinsault adds bright red fruits, counoise adds acidity, and carignan adds spiciness. Unfiltered and full of life, it's approachable, complex, and always ready to mingle, just like the five grapes it's made from!

Harmony: Uncork this biodynamic party in a bottle with equally vibrant, earth-friendly fare! A slight effervescence upon opening, pleasing mineral driven bitterness on the finish make us think of pairing this dazzler with squash enchiladas, black bean salad, and corn tortillas.
