Sauvignon Blanc, 2024

What’s this? Sauvignon Blanc from the Willamette Valley that blew our freaking minds! Kindred spirit Scott Frank of Bow & Arrow is a Loire-phile, just like us, and sources inspiration from our favorite French wine region. That said, this babe throws shade at Sancerre. From Union School Vineyard and Eola Springs, a the fruit undergoes a quick 2-day sealed carbonic maceration before fermentation and aging in 500L puncheon. A really cool wine that stands above so much basic bitch Sauvignon we’ve seen from a producer we’re excited to finally have here in Washington.

The Story: Being a retailer at heart, Scott Frank was always enamored with the incredible value that wines from the Loire Valley offered. Before starting Bow & Arrow in 2010, he knew there was an opportunity to showcase Loire varietals in the diverse Willamette Valley. Spending 4-6 years working side by side with the venerable John Paul at Cameron as assistant winemaker and assistant vineyard manager gave him the knowledge and confidence to make wines in OR akin to those he admired from across the pond. The wines are very much Loire Valley inspired, & frankly in today’s world the style, quality, & pricing aren’t far off from what you expect from our European friends. Scott works with & sources fruit from a few organic & biodynamic vineyards, & helps a few other aspiring sites find their way down that path as well.

Personality: This bright, fresh and vibrant expression of Sauv Blanc is no basic bitch. Tart and fruity, it takes you on a journey. No SB from Oregon should taste this good.

Harmony: The perfect picnic pairing, aperitif, Fresh Seafood, Stinky Cheese, Crunchy Greens, Root Veggies. There’s no wrong answer.
