The Story: In 1914, Josep Jané was working as a salesman in the Penedès region; through sheer drive and initiative, he took the first steps to create what we now know as Jané Ventura, one of the region’s premier producers of Cava and other indigenous styles. Josep’s great grandson Gerard currently leads the team, carrying on a rich history that grew steadily throughout the last century. Today, in addition to the grapes sourced from estate vineyards, Gerard continues longstanding relationships with 20 area growers throughout Penedès. They have been certified organic since 2010, and organic in practice for much longer.
Personality: In the glass, the wine is a pale gold with aromatics that evoke the vivid Mediterranean coast - salty with layers of chamomile, white orchard blossoms, white peach, lime zest, and sea fennel. On the palate, the wine is crisp and structured, with a finish that is mineral, citrusy, and dry, with persistent tension and a lingering note of citrus peel.
Harmony: Tinned fish, fresh seafood, all the wonders of the ocean are perfect pairings even if it’s just a beach picnic with friends in the sun.
