We have a big wine crush on Peter Gönc, wunderkind of Štajerska, a 4th generation winemaker, who persists to impress us by rolling out bad ass juice year after year. This blend of native Slovenian grapes Žametna Črnina, Blaufränkisch, plus a little Pinot Noir aged for 5 months in stainless steel is a real banger especially because it comes in a 1L bottle. Also because if aliens were to look at Earth from outer space and pick the best place for wine growing, it very well might be rocky hillsides of Eastern Slovenia. Grape Abduction is a true taste of the cosmos. If you look up at the sky and ask if aliens make wine, well, this is the answer and it’s lip-smacking delicious.

The Story: From far off in space, we observed your little blue and green planet, spinning around your great yellow sun at unimaginable speeds – well, at least they are unimaginable to you. And we realized that there was one special place on this planet with the perfect conditions to grow wine fit for the tastes of space: Stajerska, Slovenia. (Peter Gönc makes these wines under the Grape Abduction brand from nearby estate fruit, not his own.)
Personality: Darker pink color bursting with notes of ripe wild berries, wild strawberries, and a hint of violet. On the palate, the wine is round, fruity, with a refreshing acidity after the vivacious mid-palate that carries the red fruit aromas to a long and smooth finish.
Harmony: Enjoy on any hot day (or not), on any occasion, by itself or with light fare. With 1L to go around, you might want to share with some friends.
