The Story: Cantina Puianello was established in 1938 by five wine families who joined forces to create the classic wines of Emilia-Romagna. The high quality vineyards in the foothills of the Apennines -Lambrusco Monterrico takes it’s name from Monterrico, a slice of the Albinea municipality which enjoys a unique microclimate sheltered from the humid climate and frequent fogs, typical of the Emilian plain. These hills still offer well ventilated and decent temperature range. Grown on calcareous and generally clayey soils, the vineyards mainly follow the espalier training system, with vegetative containment threads, combining the Guyot pruning system.
Personality: Even for those year-round red wine drinkers, this slightly fizzy rosé that is bone DRY and hints of tart watermelon and wild strawberries and a slight herb note and finishes beautifully crisp and clean.
Harmony: Can’t go wrong with anything covered in Parmesan and layered with prosciutto.
